Making a Floral ImPACT
Five self-employed business women, all living and working in and around Sheffield, have come together to pool their creative talents as the Floral ImPACT Team. Cheryl Galsworthy, journalist and media/PR Consultant, is leading the Team, which also comprises a floral artist, a fashion designer, a florist and a photographer. The aim of the Floral ImPACT Team is to raise money for PACT (Parents’ Association of Children with Tumours and Leukaemia) a local children’s cancer charity, based within Sheffield Children’s Hospital supporting the Oncology Ward. PACT was founded in 1977 – with a donation of £113 – when eight parents created a support group for families whose children had cancer. PACT started raising funds for a Christmas party and a summer trip for the children. In 1978, the charity expanded its remit to include children with leukaemia. PACT provides a house, located on Western Bank, for the families to stay in during their children’s treatment and two holiday homes in Berwick and Filey. PACT provides invaluable support, both practical and emotional, for children and their families. The charity also contributes to critical medical research being undertaken to seek improved treatments and, ultimately, a cure for cancer. See the PACT website for further information

About the Floral ImPACT Team
Wendy Carlton
Wendy has been a professional artist all her working life starting as a textile designer for a London based studio. Preferring illustration, she moved into design greeting cards for all the major companies including Hallmark, Carlton and Camden Graphics. Wendy changed direction 6 years ago producing a range of Floral paintings on large canvases and taking on commissions. She has exhibited in many local and national events including London, Manchester and Nottingham. She has been interviewed and displayed paintings on TV as well as being featured in several newspapers, magazines and local radio. Wendy has also created a range of personalised artwork for children, which was recently launched on her Daisy Doodle website. One of Wendy’s paintings is the logo for Sheffield Botanical Gardens where she exhibits each year as a Premier Artist in the Central Pavilion at their annual “Art in the Gardens” event.
Elizabeth A Edwards
Elizabeth is a graduate of London's prestigious St. Martin's School of Art. She has worked with some of the country's most established names, including Jean Muir, Betty Jackson, Catherine Walker and Mulberry, and has dressed many celebrities including Jennifer Saunders, Joanna Lumley & Victoria Wood. Her designs have been shown on the catwalk at London Fashion Week and have sold on the UK High Street in stores such as Zara and H&M; in Europe and the United States. Following an exciting project with Twiggy to develop a range of clothing for mail order giant Great Universal and the pioneering ‘eco-friendly’ clothing range, EthicallyMe, Elizabeth has now launched her own collection. Her eco-couture label, Hope&Glory, offers a range of unique, handcrafted, one-off designs, using re-cycled, vintage, organic and rescued fabrics. This range will be launched on 30 July at The Walnut Club. Previews will be available on the Hope&Glory website.

Cheryl demonstrates how people from different business backgrounds can work together to achieve greater results. The former magazine editor and press agency reporter has written for many national newspapers and magazines. Her feature on Sarah Turpin of flowersforlaura.com will be published in October's Good Housekeeping magazine. Cheryl has lectured in 'Working With The Media' and organised media workshops at Wilmorton College, Derby. She believes every person has a story to tell or a business to sell.
Sarah Turpin
Sarah set up her own floristry business in the autumn of 2007 following the loss of her baby daughter, Laura, to Acute Myeloid Leukaemia at the age of 19 weeks. After a long career in adult education, Sarah has taken inspiration from her daughter’s short but very special life and is now pursuing the vocation she always wanted. Sarah’s aim is to ensure flowers from flowersforlaura.com make her customers smile, even on the saddest occasions. She works with the highest quality flowers direct from Holland and offers a personal service, visiting customers in their own homes and venues for special occasions. Sarah donates 10% from the total order price of all her flowers to PACT.
Tracey Welch
Tracey has been a professional freelance photographer for the last three years. She has a diverse range of photographic skills and is renowned for her easy-going personality, which puts her subjects at ease. In her creative role as Floral ImPACT photographer, Tracey has produced some stunning shots of local business people for a special poster campaign. She always seems to be carrying around a whole load of ideas as well as her camera bag! Tracey has built up a large commercial portfolio featuring both smaller successful local businesses and larger blue chip companies including Strand Financial. She is a well-known face in the music scene, not least for her ability to capture the very 'mood or moment' of a musician or music event. She has photographed Richard Hawley for The Observer and Arctic Monkeys for the local press. Groove Armada is one of many bands that have commissioned Tracey to work for them. The stunning results, along with shots of The Kooks and Jarvis Cocker can be seen on her website along with details of 'The Plugger', her online music photography newsletter. Tracey also works for local model agencies and large corporate companies - specialising in portraits.
