Open Up Sheffield - floral art and floral design comes together at The Quarter in Sheffield
The new Quarter Bar in North Church Street, Sheffield S1 played host to an exciting floral exhibition of paintings by Wendy Carlton and floral designs by Sarah Turpin from flowersforlaura.com, both local Sheffield women on 3rd and 4th May 2008. As part of the 10th Anniversary Open Up Sheffield festival, Wendy and Sarah enjoyed sharing their floral creations with visitors on the annual Open Up
Sheffield trail experiencing the delights of many local artists.
Based in Dore, Sheffield, Wendy has been producing beautiful floral art for many years including the prestigious logo for Sheffield's Botanical Gardens. Wendy's work can be seen at www.wendycarlton.com. Sarah, from her business flowersforlaura.com based in Totley, Sheffield created a range of floral designs to reflect the colours and textures of Wendy's paintings. Contemporary designs added an interesting floral twist to Wendy's artwork - brightly coloured tulips, arranged in glass fishbowls with stems in chopped children's plastic drinking straws is one example of Sarah's work.
